Fourth of July CT also known as Independence Day is a time for celebration with fun and unique activities to make it special . . . like fireworks!

For the biggest spectactors there is a display somewhere every night – we found this state resource online Connecticut Fireworks 2014 to guide you. Some neighborhoods and private communities host their own celebrations yet there are many public displays to enjoy!

We always thought the name “Great American Boom“,  the annual family event in Stanley Quarter Park, New Britain. 5-9:00 PM, Fireworks start at 9:15 PM.  It describes the big noisy fun perfectly, doesn’t it?!

A new one we found is Friday Nights Lights at The Nature & Heritage Center at Coogan Farm in Mystic where you can enjoy nature’s fireworks and accompanying night sounds of insects and frogs. It’s different every week!

Then there’s “Connecticut’s Largest One Day Celebration” on the river in Hartford “Riverfest” next weekend July 12, 2014 (Rain Date 7/13); and for those who are up to traveling to something bigger head to Boston Harborfest where the fireworks can be seen over a very patriotic city.

And it doesn’t have to end — there are many July Fireworks in CT beyond the “4th”.   and another great list of fireworks throughout CT provided by WTNH.
